BHTA AND NFSUK PROUDLY SUPPORT MOBILITY ROADSHOW 2016
16th February 2016
The British Healthcare Trade Association (BHTA) and National Federation of Shopmobility UK (NFSUK) will be supporting The Mobility Roadshow 2016, incorporating Get Going Live! at Silverstone, Northants, 26-28th May.
BHTA, the UK’s oldest and largest healthcare association, represents nearly 500 member companies who help people live more independently through the provision of assistive products and services. Members of the BHTA all adhere to a Code of Practice, which is approved by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute, so that their customers receive a fair deal and ethical service. NFSUK is a BHTA member and a nationally recognised organisation with affiliated schemes across the UK, providing wheelchairs and mobility scooters for hire in towns and shopping centres.
Ann Frye, Chair of the charity Mobility Choice which organises The Mobility Roadshow commented: “Shopmobility provides a vital service giving independence to disabled and older people in many towns and cities. We are delighted to be working in partnership with them and with the BHTA to focus on the needs of people who depend on scooters and wheelchairs.”
Donna Eade, Coordinator for the NFSUK added: “The NFSUK along with the BHTA is delighted to be supporting The Mobility Roadshow at Silverstone this year. NFSUK members support around 180,000 clients across the UK to access their town centres and local amenities. Shopmobility is for anyone with a mobility impairment, not just people registered as disabled, come and see us at our Mobility Roadshow stand to find out more about how our members help the public.”
Since 1983 The Mobility Roadshow has provided a unique opportunity for people living with restricted mobility to discover the latest innovations in accessible vehicles, assistive products and services to increase independent mobility. Visitors to this year’s event, whether Motability customers or private vehicle owners, will be able to test drive adapted and wheelchair-accessible vehicles around the iconic British Grand Prix Circuit – all for free and accompanied by experienced professional drivers. The Get Going Live! feature focuses on the needs of young and novice drivers with disabilities whilst the indoor Silverstone Wing will exhibit the latest wheelchairs, mobility scooters and more.
