| NEWS RELEASE: Help Disabled Children and Win £1,000 for your School
| Mobility Roadshow Launches the Ready, Willing and Mobile Competition 2007
5 February 2007 - If you are aged 7 to 16, you could win £1,000 cash for your school, plus a bundle of great prizes for yourself by coming up with a bright idea that could help disabled children. The Mobility Roadshow, the leading mobility lifestyle event, has announced its annual Ready Willing and Mobile competition that encourages school children to think about disability, accessibility and inclusivity from a young age.
Celebrating national Young Disabled Person`s Day on 19th July, the competition, now in its third year, is proving very popular with schools, many using it as an assembly or classroom opportunity to discuss disability, commented Jacqui Jones, director of projects and events, Mobility Roadshow. If your school isn`t taking part, you can still enter individually - or tell you teacher about it.
Sponsored by Waitrose and supported by Vauxhall, the competition calls for bright ideas from all young people - both disabled and able-bodied - aged 7 to 16 years: ideas that will help children with disabilities on the move at home, at school and at play. All that is required to enter is a brief description of your idea, together with an illustration or diagram. Think of products, services and gadgets that could help disabled children integrate more easily into everyday life. Previous entries have included funky lifestyle wheelchairs, accessible play equipment, accessories, shopping aids and tools. It could be a totally new concept or an adaptation of an existing item. If you are stuck for ideas you`ll find inspiration from Nicole, Harri and Jack on the competition section at www.mobilityroadshow.co.uk
The outright winner wins a cheque for £1,000 and a £250 STAEDTLER stationery and art and craft materials pack for their school. For themselves they gain the latest Canon PowerShot A450 digital camera and SELPHY CP730 compact photo printer, a 20 minute flight over the Mobility Roadshow donated by fly2help.org and HarperCollins books of their choice. Category runners-up also win HarperCollins books and bumper fun stationery packs. Prizes will be presented at a VIP ceremony on national Young Disabled Persons` Day, July 19, at the Mobility Roadshow.
