Photographic Competition Winners in the Frame

At the national Focus on Imaging show at NEC Birmingham on Monday 4th March, prizes were presented to winners of the 2012 On the Move national competition for disabled photographers.
The competition is jointly organised by the Disabled Photographers’ Society and Mobility Choice, the charity behind the annual Mobility Roadshow.
In this second year of the competition, the Sport in Motion theme to celebrate London’s Olympic and Paralympic Games attracted some stunning entries, providing once again a challenge for the judging panel to reach a final decision on the category winners. They are -
Over 18 years category
Michael Abbott from Bedfordshire with ‘Gold Maybe Silver’, taken at the men's Olympic C2 canoe slalom event at the Lee Valley White Water Centre.
12 to 17 years category
Sophie Taylor from Lincolnshire with ‘Minimalistic’, which represents two of her passions: horse riding and
photography.
Under 12 years category
Angus Brown from Lincolnshire with ‘Going Going Gone’,
capturing motorsport speed in motion.
“Pictures of this calibre confirm my faith in photography as an art form,” said Mary Walker of Mary Walker Exhibitions Ltd. “These winning pictures are truly inspirational.”
On behalf of the organisers, Jacqui Jones, Chief Executive of Mobility Choice said: “We have been delighted with the response in this second year of the competition. The quality of entries, once again, demonstrates the power of the camera to eliminate boundaries for people with disabilities."

Picture shows winner Angus at the presentation with Perou, the world-famous British fashion, portrait and music photographer who has also appeared as a judge on Make Me a Supermodel UK and on season 2 of Bravo TV's American Make Me a Supermodel.
Prize Package
The winners prize package includes a Merlin Annual Pass for a disabled person and carer, offering entry to a range of top UK attractions such as the London Eye, LEGOLAND Windsor and Madame Tussauds for 12 months; plus Calumet photographic accessories.
The winning and short-listed entries were displayed on the Disabled Photographers’ stand at Focus on Imaging and will form a 4-week public exhibition at Calumet Photographic in central London from Tuesday 9 April until Thursday 2 May 2013.
Details of On the Move 2013 will be announced on 27 June at the Mobility Roadshow 30th anniversary event at Telford.
