Roadshow Ambassador Jack to carry Olympic Flame

26 January 2012 - Mobility Choice, the charity that organises the Mobility Roadshow is delighted that one of its Ambassadors, 20 year old Jack Pegram, has been selected as an Olympic Torchbearer. Jack will be carrying the Olympic Flame in East London on Sunday 22nd July, five days before the Opening Ceremony.

“We congratulate Jack on his selection, especially as we believe there were on average 11 nominations for each Torchbearer place and the selection panels faced some very tough decisions,” said Jacqui Jones, Executive Director, Mobility Choice. “We first met Jack in 2006 when his bright idea for an automatic wheel cleaner won the 12 to 14 years category in the first year of our national schools Ready Willing & Mobile competition. He later joined our panel of competition judges and has supported the Mobility Roadshow every since.”

Disabled Photographers in Shot

19 December 2011 - The winners of the first national On the Move competition for disabled photographers have been announced ahead of an exhibition of entries opening on 7th January. The competition is organised by The Disabled Photographers’ Society and Mobility Choice, the charity behind the annual Mobility Roadshow.

Nigel Holland of Wellingborough, Northamptonshire wins the over 18s category with his Top Fuel Bike action shot. “This is the first competition I have entered so I am especially thrilled to win,” said Nigel. “Drag racing is a big passion and I was trying to get a good panning shot. This is not easy to achieve with my disability so I am delighted it pleased the judges.”

The winner of the 12 to 18 years category is 17 year old college student Henry Butt from Peterborough, whose winning shot captured a wave splashing under a pier with dramatic effect. “I fell in love with photography six years ago when I picked up the camera of my brother’s girlfriend and she thought my pictures were better than hers,” said Henry who is now on a photography course at college and dreams of being a photographer with National Geographic magazine.
