Tim joined the Woodland Trust in 2003 as a Woodland Officer and has been a Site Manager for the charity for 7 years, responsible for Woodland Trust sites across Cheshire and Merseyside. He has worked in the environmental sector for nearly 20 years having worked for two inner city Groundworks, as an Education Manager for Groundwork and for the Warrington Ranger Service.
As another string to his bow, Tim trained and worked as a primary school teacher in Manchester.
Extremely keen on wildlife, Tim is an avid bird-watcher and also takes an interest in bats. 10 years ago he became involved in the local bat group. He now volunteers for the Bat Conservation Trust as a surveyor and of course regularly does this in his local woodland!
Married to Jo, Tim has three children Arran (9), Theo (6) and a 1 year old daughter.
At 4 months of age, Theo battled pneumococcal meningitis, which left him with multiple disabilities. Having a severely disabled son gives Tim a unique understanding of the challenges involved in ensuring access and engagement in the natural world for children with disabilities.
When not looking after Woodland Trust woods, or juggling a very busy family life, Tim somehow finds time to indulge his passion for music. He plays tenor sax, drums and piano, plays in a Ceiladh band and loves to watch his beloved Manchester United play football!
